Would you believe we have 1,075 signatures!?
Please join us on Monday, June 8, at 6:00pm in front of the City Hall, 400 E. Main St., for our rally to support adequate funding for our public library. The rally will be followed at 7:00pm by the City Council's Public Hearing before adopting the budget. Community members are invited to sign-up to present comments to the Committee. Currently the proposed library budget funds 1.7 employees - 1 full time, 1 part time.
We have a simple 'ask'- provide adequate funding to ensure there are always two staff members at the library during operating hours. This would require 2.7 employees and $50,000 in additional funding, less than 1% of the 12 million dollar budget.
Members of FOD have attended and spoken at 4 City Council mtgs, 3 Budget Committee meetings, 1 Town Hall meeting with over 300 people in support of funding for the pool and the library, and have over 1075 signatures on our petition to support adequate funding for the library! And still one member of the City Council continues to refer to our efforts as 'a vocal minority" !

AMIGOS AND AMIGAS! Don't miss this fabulous community event brought to you by our Mam friends and ROP. Free food, raffles, and live marimba music—wear your dancin' shoes! No Spanish necessary to join the celebration. If you would like to staff a table with free info packets and PIRC/ECO bracelets, please email Lise at liseinthegrove@msn.com—you will need conversational-level Spanish for this.
Community Voices
Hear from our passionate supporters advocating for democracy and equality.
I’m unable to attend Wednesday meetings. Email updates and the website calendar keep me informed of opportunities to participate in rallies, vigils, special projects and on committees when I can. Lots of ways to get involved to preserve our democracy for our children and grandchildren!
